Hydration and Summer Heat Safety
As temperatures rise during the summer months, staying properly hydrated becomes increasingly important. Water plays a vital role in regulating body temperature, supporting circulation, and maintaining energy levels. When the body loses fluids through sweat, dehydration can occur if those fluids are not replaced. Early signs of dehydration include fatigue, dizziness, headaches, and dry mouth. In more severe cases, dehydration can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke, both of which require medical attention.
One of the simplest ways to prevent dehydration is to drink water consistently throughout the day rather than waiting until thirst appears. During periods of intense heat or physical activity, additional fluids may be necessary. Lightweight clothing, shade, and limiting outdoor activity during the hottest hours of the day can also help reduce heat-related risks. Children, older adults, and individuals with certain medical conditions may be particularly vulnerable to heat illness and should take extra precautions.
Summer is a time to enjoy outdoor activities, community events, and time with family. By paying attention to hydration and heat safety, it is possible to enjoy the season while protecting your health. Sometimes the most important summer habit is simply remembering to drink enough water.
A BRAIN FIRST APPROACH TO AWARENESS AND GROWTH IN LIFE’S JOURNEY

By Eric A. Smith DC
Hello and welcome back to Keenesburg Chiropractic!
My name is Eric A. Smith DC and have been practicing
chiropractic and studying psychological development for
over 26 years. I have worked with many professional and
amateur athletes helping them to recover from injury and
helping them to perform at a higher level. I have also worked
with thousands upon thousands of fine folks who just want
to get out of pain and increase their quality of life. But what
fascinates me the most is understanding and cultivating the
development of the mind.
In order to develop and cultivate the mind, yes indeed at any
age, a brain first approach of engagement must be achieved and
consistently performed on a daily basis as if your life depended
on it. Because it does. Accessing higher ordered thoughts and
emotions is freedom for the mind. Accessing greater awareness
is imperative to navigation in this ever increasingly complex
world. It is not for the timid, a warrior mind set is required. And
there will be any and every excuse to disengage the process
because the brain and mind default mode is to keep you safe
and to stay the same because all it cares about is keeping you
alive. That’s it. That’s its job.
However, if you engage the process of psychological
development with fire and passion, there will be signs of your
development:
- Intuition and insight are used as transrational modes of knowing. Far beyond rational knowing, which also must be included, to further navigate an over complex world.
- Transforming challenges into opportunities. Problems become the catalyst for transformation, rendering the concept of a problem obsolete.
- New behaviors. Motivation now becomes action and is automatically integrated into life.
- Heightened perception. The world takes on a luster and a beauty.
- Confidence. Confidence emerges as a fearlessness that isn’t dependent on anyone or anything.
- No personal drama or victimhood. Feeling limitless power and all claims to victim hood vanish.
- Joy. A heightened sense of well being.
- Purpose. Moving towards experiences that feel wholesome, creative, and in service.
- Creativity. Total alignment with the evolutionary impulse.
- Meaningful relationships. Only win- win dynamics.
- Synchronicity and psychic capabilities. Transrational modes of knowing.
I hoped you enjoyed reading. If you are struggling with
your mind or body, Keenesburg Chiropractic is here to help.
